Our Curriculum and Whole-Child Approach
The Creative Curriculum serves as the primary curriculum framework for St. Timothy’s early childhood classrooms. Its play-based and developmentally appropriate approach helps educators support children’s learning through exploration, classroom studies, intentional teaching experiences, and meaningful interactions.
We use Teaching Strategies GOLD as an observation-based assessment system to document children’s development and learning. Educators use authentic classroom observations, notes, photographs, work samples, and other information to understand each child’s progress and plan appropriate next steps.
Our approach extends beyond a single curriculum resource. We support the whole child—including social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language, literacy, mathematical, scientific, creative, and cultural development. Activities are individualized to foster growth, confidence, positive engagement, curiosity, relationships, and a genuine joy of learning.
Intentional Teaching With Room to Create
St. Timothy’s values the knowledge, creativity, and professional judgment of our educators. While The Creative Curriculum provides our primary framework, educators have the autonomy to use a variety of appropriate resources, materials, teaching strategies, and individualized activities to respond to the children in their classrooms.
This flexibility allows educators to build on children’s interests, adapt experiences for different developmental levels, celebrate culture and community, and create learning opportunities in which both children and educators can thrive.
Learning Through Relationships, Play, and Discovery
At St. Timothy’s, children learn through warm relationships, purposeful play, exploration, conversation, creativity, and meaningful experiences. Our educators create responsive learning environments that recognize each child’s strengths, interests, developmental needs, culture, and individual pace.

Infants
Our infant program focuses on building secure, responsive relationships through consistent care, gentle interactions, and meaningful engagement. Educators provide a safe, calm, and stimulating environment where infants explore through their senses, build motor skills, and experience early language and discovery at their own pace.

Toddlers
The toddler program serves children as they transition from infancy to more active exploration. Educators support developing independence, social-emotional awareness, and communication through play-based experiences, routines, and individualized learning opportunities that celebrate each child’s curiosity and growing confidence.

Preschoolers
Our preschool program prepares children for future success through intentional teaching and in-depth classroom studies. Educators foster literacy, mathematics, scientific thinking, and social collaboration by building on children’s natural interests. Through meaningful interactions and purposefully designed environments, preschoolers develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive beyond early childhood.
Summer Camp
St. Timothy’s offers an engaging summer camp for children who have completed kindergarten through age 12. Camp experiences may include creative projects, group activities, outdoor exploration, field trips, enrichment experiences, community connections, and opportunities to build friendships, confidence, and independence.
