Important Information for Maryland Applicants
St. Timothy’s is located in Washington, DC, near the Prince George’s County line. However, educator qualifications are governed by District of Columbia requirements. Maryland’s 90-hour or 45-hour child care coursework does not, by itself, establish eligibility to serve as a Lead Educator or Assistant Educator in a licensed DC child development center. All applicants must satisfy an applicable DC educator-qualification pathway. Credentials, college transcripts, coursework, and experience will be reviewed before a position is offered.
Applicants who are uncertain about their eligibility should review current educator resources through DC Child Care Connections and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.
Current Opportunities
FULL-TIME POSITION
Full-Time Lead Educator
Lead Educators create responsive and engaging learning environments; plan developmentally appropriate experiences; observe and document children’s progress; collaborate with families and colleagues; and guide classroom routines, curriculum implementation, and individualized learning support.
Applicants must satisfy an applicable OSSE education pathway for this educator position in a licensed DC child development center. Qualifying pathways may include an associate degree or higher in early childhood education or an equivalent field; at least 60 college credits or an associate degree in another subject with the required early-childhood coursework; or an approved CDA-based degree-completion pathway. St. Timothy’s will verify credentials, transcripts, coursework, experience, and eligibility.
FULL-TIME POSITION
Full-Time Assistant Educator
Assistant Educators collaborate with Lead Educators to provide attentive supervision, nurturing care, meaningful learning experiences, classroom support, family communication, and a safe and welcoming environment for every child.
Applicants must satisfy an applicable OSSE education pathway for this educator position. Qualifying pathways may include a Child Development Associate credential, an associate degree or higher, at least 60 college credits, an OSSE-approved comparable credential, or a high school diploma or equivalent with an approved plan to earn a CDA within the required period. St. Timothy’s will verify credentials and eligibility.
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE
On-Call and Substitute Educators
St. Timothy’s welcomes qualified educators who can provide dependable classroom coverage during staff absences, professional-development days, scheduling changes, and other program needs. On-call and substitute educators must meet the DC requirements applicable to their assigned duties and complete St. Timothy’s screening, documentation, and orientation process.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities may be available for individuals interested in supporting classroom experiences, special events, gardening and nature activities, literacy, creative arts, and other approved center initiatives. Placement depends on current program needs, appropriate experience, successful screening, orientation, and administrative approval.
Submitting a volunteer interest form does not guarantee placement. Volunteers may not begin service or have access to children until all required approvals and clearances have been completed.
General Hiring Requirements
Employment or placement is contingent upon verification of education and experience, professional references, required documentation, and successful completion of all applicable District of Columbia background, child-protection, health, and suitability requirements.
Equal Opportunity Statement
St. Timothy’s Episcopal Child Development Center is committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace. Employment and placement decisions are based on qualifications, experience, program needs, and applicable legal requirements.
DC Early Childhood Educator Pay Equity Fund
St. Timothy’s follows applicable District of Columbia compensation requirements and participates in the DC Early Childhood Educator Pay Equity Fund as applicable. The program supports participating child development facilities in providing eligible early childhood educators with compensation that meets or exceeds OSSE-established minimums based on their positions and verified credentials.
Pay Equity Fund eligibility and applicable compensation depend on the educator’s position, work status, verified education and credentials, and current District requirements. Volunteer service is unpaid and is not eligible for Pay Equity Fund compensation.
Comprehensive Background Check and Child-Safety Policy
The safety and well-being of children are our highest priorities. St. Timothy’s requires full-time and part-time employees, on-call and substitute educators, contractors assigned to the program, and volunteers to complete the background-screening, suitability, health, orientation, and documentation requirements applicable to their roles. No individual may begin assigned service or have unauthorized access to children until St. Timothy’s has confirmed all required approvals and clearances.
Screening may include identity verification, criminal-history checks, child-protection registry checks, fingerprinting, professional references, education and credential verification, health documentation, and other checks required by District of Columbia law, OSSE regulations, or St. Timothy’s policy.
Educator Application of Interest
Please do not upload Social Security cards, identification documents, medical records, banking information, fingerprints, background-check reports, or other sensitive personal records through this website. St. Timothy’s will provide secure instructions if additional documentation is required.
